What articles are presented
at a Special Town Meeting?
A closing date for warrants to be presented at the Special Town Meeting is set. After this date, the wording of warrant articles cannot be changed. Up until the set closing date, other warrants can
be presented to be included at the Special Town Meeting as long as the warrant/petition has 100 signatures.
How does voting at Special Town Meeting work?
At the Special Town Meeting, any motion which is
presented will be voted on. The majority vote rules
and will become law. There will be no additional
voting outside the Special Town Meeting (this does not go to the
ballots like a prop. 2-1/2 override would). Also,
there are no absentee ballots for Special Town Meeting. Every
vote at Special Town Meeting counts!
Can an article be reconsidered at a later time?
Yes, unless another motion to NOT reconsider is made directly after voting. The motion to NOT reconsider effectively locks in the vote so
that this issue cannot be brought up or revoted on at a later time.
